Tommy Lasorda Heart Institute

The Official Hospital of a Legendary Heart Team

A legendary cardiac program means having an emergency cardiac team standing by 24/7.  It means having proven protocols for rapid response to heart attacks, including immediate access to a state-of-the-art cath-lab for life-saving procedures.

Of course, it requires physicians and surgeons skilled in advanced technologies...from new minimally invasive techniques that include mitral valve repairs, ablation for atrial fibrillation to complex bypass procedures.  It means having a depth and breadth of specialists - including complete arrhythmia and vascular programs.

The same quality cardiac care that Tommy Lasorda experienced at Centinela Hospital Medical Center, Centinela Campus in 1996, continues to be enhanced as techniques and technologies in the field advance.

Just more reasons why Centinela Freeman is the official hospital of the Los Angeles Dodgers and the official hospital of YOU. . .

New Services
The Tommy Lasorda Heart Institute has expanded to include  construction of new cardiac catheterization labs, an electrophysiology lab, as well as a new 19-bed postoperative wing of the hospital, including additional inpatient and outpatient testing areas to provide our patients with a full continuum of cardiac services. From admission through discharge, The Tommy Lasorda Heart Institute will meet the needs of our patients all in one location.

In 1996, when Hall of Fame Baseball Manager, Tommy Lasorda had a mild heart attack, he chose the Centinela Campus for his cardiac care. Following recovery and rehabilitation, Tommy has resumed his rigorous schedule with the Los Angeles Dodgers, with a little less fat in his diet, more exercise in his schedule, and a strong commitment to helping the Centinela Campus in the battle against heart disease.

Tommy has added his name to the hospital's two-year, $7 million cardiac service expansion and has continued to serve as hospital spokesperson to help spread the word about cardiovascular disease issues. Through The Tommy Lasorda Heart Institute, the same physicians who cared for Tommy will be able to reach out to even more of those in need with the latest in medical technology, research and medical services.

The Tommy Lasorda Heart Institute represents an enhancement of Centinela's existing cardiac services to meet the changing needs of our patients and the rapidly advancing techniques and technologies available for their care.
